Patching SQL Workstation

Created: 24 Jul 2013 • Updated: 24 Jul 2013 | 2 comments

Greetings All,

I was informed to patch using the Altiris Deployment Console because IA informed my team of a known network vulnerability when they ran a scan of the network. The thing is, I have very little knowledge of this and would like to see if any one with more experience could possibly help me out. I am trying to patch a network connected workstation running SQL workstation with the following known vulnerablities:

SQL Does Not Enforce C2 Auditing Detected

SQL Insecure Password Policy Enforcement Detected

SQL Insecure Registry Access Commands Detected

SQL Logins Does Not Have Password Expirations Detected

SQL SA Login Does Not Have Password Expiration Detected

If anyone with reputable knowledge could possibly help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Hello Heero_Yuy,

patch-management-solution might be the right forum for this issue.

Thanks,
Sachin

Hello Heero_Yuy

Thank you for your post.  We have been looking at your questions and we need some additional information to route you to the right person.

Are these items actual "Microsoft Patches?" If so, then you will want Patch Management:  http://www.symantec.com/client-management-suite?fid=endpoint-management

If these are  not actual patches but say add-ons or extras, you should be able to deploy them via Software Delivery.  This is also part of the Client Management Suite in the link above.

Please let me know which it is and I'll be happy to find someone who can get you started.
