    Posted Sep 23, 2016 05:59 AM

    Hello Folks,

    Here is a small synopsis.

My client wants to have PBE for users sending email to external domains.

Currently using Symantec Message Labs (Symantec.Cloud) as a gateway for anit spam and anti malware.

    Questions:

    1. Do i need a third party SSL cert to enable or activate PBE on message labs (post i purchase the PBE solution)

    2. What type of certificate is required if required.

    Regards

    Hi Paul,

If purchasing PBE Advanced, when Symantec provisions the service they'll ensure that your mail servers support TLS and that the certs you are running are issued by a Certificate Authority that the Email Security.cloud service trusts.  They'll also setup TLS enforcements to ensure that the messages you send to the service are TLS encrypted.  I guess if you think about it, if you are looking to use the service to ensure the information being sent is delivered securely and can only be opened by the intended third party recipient, then it doesn't really make sense if you would be allowed to send the initial message from your mail servers to the Email Security.cloud service in the clear.  Here is a list of the Certificate Authorities trusted by the Email Security, cloud service.
