I have installed version 11.5 on both my server "Windows 2003 Advanced server" and my home pc "Windows XP SP3" I have the server setup as a host and created a password, then went to what is my Ip online and confirmed the ip address and tried to connect from home on the XP pc and get the message it can not connect. What am I missing here?

Thanks

Where is the 2003 server

Where is the 2003 server located? Is this in a company network, if so, it may be a corporate firewall that is blocking you. See if these two Symantec documents are helpful.

Yes, you can connect  from

Yes, you can connect  from 12.5 to 11.5.

Symantec Anywhere automatically synchronizes the clipboards on the host
computer and the remote computer if both computers use pcAnywhere 12.0 or
later.
If you are connecting to a host computer that is running a previous version
of pcAnywhere, you should turn off the option to automatically transfer clipboard
contents. You can turn off this option permanently for all sessions. Or, you can
temporarily turn off this option during a session. You can manually transfer
clipboard contents during the session.

See page 137 in the Symantec pcAnywhere User's Guide for details.

ok, thanks. I have found out

ok, thanks. I have found out another device controls my Netgear VPN/Firewall so I will get with someone to have them open the two ports needed (TCP/UDP).

When they do this do they have to do a forward to the internal IP of the server I want to get to? I know the external IP and also the internal ones as there is more than one pc I want to be able to connect to. One is Windows 2003 Adv server and a workstation Windows XP sp3.

How do I do this? Or can I only have one up as a host for me to connect to?

Thanks

Yes, you need to have the

Yes, you need to have the port forwarded to the internal IP address(s). The administrator of the Netgear firewall will have to set that up for you.

Transfer conflict?

I have a Windows 7 running 12.5 and an Xp running 11.5 over a dial-up connection. The problem is that when the Command Queue is activated thru the Win7 Task Scheduler , the two seem to connect but the files requested do not transfer. The task is reported as complete. Is there a file transfer conflict between these two version?

Are you using build 463 of pca 12.5 on the win 7 machine?

Are you using build 463 of pca 12.5 on the win 7 machine?

You have to install the windows compatable patch after you install the program that might help.

I am using 12.5 build 442 on

I am using 12.5 build 442 on a win7 machine

should I download that patch?

I have problems with xp hosts on various PCA versions where the file transfer can't find the appropriate data to open a transfer and requests I install the cd.

Problem is, it never finds what it needs on the disk.

If I cancel the install wizard it reopens and I can quit it several times in a row and it finally opens the transfer and works fine

Sounds like a bad install and you have to use 463 on all win 7

The needing cd sounds like a bad install.   Take and back up your caller and host files and then uninstall and resinstall from the CD.

With regards to the win 7 machine build 442 doesn't support win 7.   It works well enough but you will have to be using build 463 if you call tech support.

Cheers.
