Have you tried with the latest version, 12.1.5? You're running a couple versions behind. The Outlook plugin has had issues like this in the past.
My other question is, do you have other email security in place at your perimeter? If so, you don't need to enable this component at the endpoint.
The Outlook plugin is not very configurable. If issues continue to persist, it will need to be disabled for the time being and you're best off opening a support case so they can troubleshoot this.
The one configurable option is to scan only certain file extensions. You may want to select only the more dangerous extensions such as .exe, .scr, .bat or .com to be scanned.
