PC Transplant support for Windows 7?

I've checked the Symantec Windows 7 support site, but there's no mention of PC Transplant in the Product Support Dates section.

I may be upgrading XP users to Windows 7 and am thinking PC Transplant may help here. Has anyone tried this out? Or does anyone from Symantec have a date as to when PC Transplant may/may not support Windows 7?

Is PC Transplant better than USMT 4?

I've been working with MDT 2010 for a couple months, now Symasntec is trying to sell us DS ( we already have NS )  Can anyone offer an opinion on whether the Symantec tools are really better or are they just blowing smoke?

For example, they are trying to tell us that Microsft uses Altiris internally, I find that hard to believe. ( We also had a Dell rep tell us that Microsoft liked their deployment tool so much that they stole it and turned it into ImageX )

PC Transplant support for Windows 7

I can not find anything that says it is supported.  It would have to be a new version to pick up the new locations of files and the new security of Windows 7.  In addition you can't take drivers (printers specificly) from XP to Win7 so what can can and can't capture is very limited using the old versions.

I tried captureing basic stuff like the user's desktop files (minus LNK files), the user's My Documents folder, and the user internet favorites.  The data was transplanted.

NOTE: The link poste by Refeeq is about Symantec Endpoint Protection not PCT.

After all the talking stops 1 simple fact remains.

It is what we, collectively, have allowed it to become.

Does anyone know if/when this

Does anyone know if/when this will be addressed?  I"m starting to migrate to Win7.  I can go from 32-bit Win XP to 64-bit Win7, but not from 64-bit Win 7 to anything, because the personality capture will not run on a 64-bit machine.

Anything new here?

I was wondering if the new Altiris 7 PCTP works with Win7 64-bit yet.

PCT 6.8.1064 does work for migrations to Win 7

For the most part, PCT 6.8.1064 does work for migrations to Win 7 64 bit, although I am still finding a few issues that I am reporting back to Symantec.

PCT vs USMT 4

Just a side comment here...

We have moved away from PCT due to multiple reasons and are now using USMT 4 instead. This also allows us to do our in place mgration from XP x32 to Win7 x64 as teh same tool caters for both platforms. I have to admit I was a big fan of PCT for quite some time and used to migrate clients from 2000 to XP that time, but now with USMT, the game changed.
