This issue has been solved. See solution.

I have the odd issue that the .chf file can't be found by the console, but technically exists in the directory
Whenever I try to connect via the NS  Console from a computer which is not the server (tested with XP and Vista), I get the error message, after I click on the connect button:

Error Opening File
c:\Users\testuser\AppData\LocalLow\Symantec\pcAnywhere\pcANSRemote.chf 1

When I browse to the above directory manually, I can see that the file is in there. When I double-click on it, I can take remote control successfully. Why can't the console find/open the file directly?

Hi, Probably you have not

Hi,

Probably you have not download and install the active X component which is generally show on internet explorer bar to install when you browse NS console. Generally Internet explorer (IE) browser security settings does not allow active X component download and install. You need to specifically install those one. Please check at you end and revert back with your observations and comments.

Nitin

Solution: pcA 12.1 is not allowed to be installed

I noticed that all of my test computers had pcA 12.1 installed, which caused the pcASolution remote control to not function properly.
Why this happens, I can not really tell, but after uninstalling pcA 12.1, the issue with pca 12.5 did not occur anymore. I could replicate this on both (XP and Vista) computers.
