  • 1.  PCA quick connect disabled during NS7 install

    Hi,
We are just testing PCA with NS7 and found that the installation deploys a quick connect shortcut to the users start menu. We do not want end users to use Quick connect. We had a look for the installation package on NS7 but it seemed hidden.

Is there an installation switch we can use to disable this and how could we go about customising the PCA install from NS7?

In addition, does anyone have an update on the current security of the .CHF files stored in All users profile using quick connect (the reason why we dont want it used).

via a switch or package, and must simply be removed post install, see AKB 47034. I recently saw an interesting article on configuring a 'box install' of PCA, which may prove helpful, but most likely wouldn't be supported (and I haven't tried it either).

Keep in mind that if you deploy the box install then any patches that come out via NIS won't apply to the box code and it will require a full redeploy of a patched box build to allow for the patch to be installed.

To the question of the quick connect Jharings has the kb correct.  If you want the QC you can lock down the permissions to the all user's folder to secure it.   Nothing yet from symantec on a fix for that.

    Cheers.

Thanks Jim, and thanks ICHCB for the comment over reinstalling which is valid and important to us. Jim got the nose on the solution but if he's working off a time zone advantage I'll stick them on yours next time ;)

NP  I am just excited to see more people on the pcA forums and glad that you responded back.  There are a lot of one reply threads so thanks for coming back and commenting.

    Cheers.
