PCAnywhere and old version

I have a new laptop with Windows 7 and I installed PCAnywhere version 12.5.5.

I need to control an older pc with 5.01 version but doesn't work.

What is the version who works on Windows 7 and PCAnywhere 5.01?

Is pcAnywhere compatible with Windows 7, Server 2008 R2 or Macintosh 10.7?

pcAnywhere 12.5 build 463 (Service Pack 2) was the initial version of pcAnywhere on which Windows 7 was tested.  Following are the release notes:

Hi and thank you for your answers.

Symantec PCAnywhere works fine on Windows 7.

But PCAnywhere 12.5.5 does not control older pc with version 5.01.

Do you have solutions?

Unfortunately PCAnywhere 12.5.5 is not backwards compatible with ANY previous versions of pcAnywhere.You need to install both side same version

I have the same problem.  I purchased the 12.5 version and SP4 is included in the install but the system connecting to my machine is running pcAnywhere 12.5 SP1.  It can not connect.  Where can I get pcAnywhere 12.5 without SP4?

  1. Go to the website.
  2. Select your preferred language.

  3. Type the product serial number, and then click Enter.

  4. Read the End User License Agreement and then click I agree to accept.

  5. Under Product, select the product that you want to download.

  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to download the setup files.

  7. When the download finishes, extract the compressed file that you downloaded. Open the extracted folder, and double-click the setup file to start the installation.

  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

If you cannot find the serial number, contact us at with the proof of your purchase and we will help you.

If this version not available then please contact with Technical Support they can provide you ftp path to download it.

Thanks for the info AJ_01 but I have tried this.  There doesn't seem to be a SN on the retail version of pcAnywhere 12.5 Host only.
