PcAnywhere remote connection attempting to initialize - won't connect

Just upgraded from 12.5.0 to 12.5.5 on A Windows 7 machine.  I've been using the same hosts/caller/IP's for years and after moving to 12.5.5, when trying to connect, a brief 'Initializing' window flashes and then I am presented with an error pop up 'Cannot connect to...'

 

The only time I have ever encountered an 'Initializing' window is in the old days using dial-up modem.  I have all my settings for TCP/IP connection correct.  Is therre a preference for modem or TCP/IP defaults?

Any ideas?

After upgrading to pcAnywhere 12.5 SP4 or pcAnywhere Solution 12.6.7, the pcA Quick Connect program cannot connect.

Do make sure both machines have been upgraded to the latest version.    12.5.5 isn't backwards compatible so if your host was still 12.5.0 and your new remote is 12.5.5 that will fail.   http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH187308 notes this as one of the reasons you may not be connecting.
