Endpoint Encryption

Hi,

PGP doesn't handle outgoing messages. While incoming mails are being decrypted correctly and messages moved to IMAP foldes (like "sent") are encrytped.

I re-installed the software, I deleted a mail service and configured it manually but without success. The logging doesn't show any encrypion activities.

What can I do?

iMac 2.8 GHz Intel Core Duo, 4 GB RAM, MacOS X 10.9.4, PGP 10.3.2 MP3

Hi there,

Please try to send an encrpyted email while debug logging is activated.

Below you will find the instructions:

1.  start a shell (Terminal.app) and type the following to enable debug logging for PGP Desktop
  # defaults write com.pgp.engine debugMenu 1 
  # defaults write com.pgp.engine debugLogging 1

2. Now reboot the computer or restart PGPtray  (press ALT + click PGPtray icon and select "Quit" then restart PGP) .

3. Try to send an encrypted email.

4. Gather the log and attach it to this thread. The log files are located in "$HOME/Library/Logs/PGP"

5. Disable debug logging

# defaults write com.pgp.engine debugMenu 0 
# defaults write com.pgp.engine debugLogging 0 
 

Also please provide us the detail information about the email client you are using.

Hi, thanks for your support.

I followed the steps and logged the information to the file (attached). I deleted a number of rows containing e-mail addresses and munged my personal addresses, too.

I'm using Apple's mail app V 7.3 (1878.6)

As you can see a portion of the log with the error message. Here the log says that the searched key cannot be loaded. It seems to me that the key is located in the PGP Virtual Disk which has not been mounted yet. Did you move the keyring folder to the PGP Virtual Disk?

Hi,

there's no reaction on sending mails. While moving the sent mail to the sent objects folder (IMAP) the message is being encrypted.

I deactivated all predefined rules and created a new one in order to sign/encrypt any outgoing message: nothing.

On my MacBook Air everything works fine, just on my stationary iMac it won't...

maybe I created a PGP disk while testing 10.3.2 < MP3 but I have all my key files in my home directory outside any PGP disk.

I created a PGP disk with the name mentioned above but this had no effect.

STRIKE!

It's not an PGP issue, it's an Apple Mail one...

Since I installed Thunderbird and tried to send a encrypted message it work at once.

Finally I found the reason: PGP doesn't like having the GPGTools mailbundle installed. Removing the bundle makes PGP working correctly!
