  • 1.  PGP Command Line Licenses.

    Hi,

I have existing PGP Command Line License (Licenses to 8 CPU) on the old Microsoft Windows 2008 Servers (8 CPUs Physical Server ) and just renew to 09-Nov-2017.

We are migrating to new vmware Microsoft Windows 2012 Enterprise Server (4 vCPUs),

    Question:

    1. Can we reuse the existing PGP Command Line License for the new Server?

    2. What is the difference of the number of licenses and is there any limitation for less CPUs?

    Hi,

As you are migrating to a VM ware and the old server will be decommissioned, you can use the current license on the new server.

There is no reference between number of license and number of CPU, as long as the license is being used on one single machine with multiple CPU’s.

The new license once applied may show up higher number of CPU, you can check the sam with pgp –version –v command.

Please refer to the below article for HOW TO: License PGP Command Line 10.x

    Hi,

This is the normal cutover (old server to new server) question.

The current scenario is that we will cutover to the new PRD server on 1st July 2016.

The new production server (vmware) will be installed on April 2016 and Production Operation Acceptance Test for PGP Command Line on month of May 2016 .

    The plan are follow:

    1. New Server Production Operation Acceptance Test on May 2016, hence need to install and activate old PGP Command Line License on the New Server on May 2016.

    2. We will decommissoned, deactivate PGP Command Line on the old server on 1st July 2016.

Question: Overlap date where both Old and New Server PGP Command Line Licenses are active (May - 1st July 2016), but the New Server PGP license only productive when we cutover on 1st July 2016.

    is it consider legitimate?

Appreciate your advice so that we are allow to continue using the existing PGP Command Line License on the new Server legitimately.

    Thanks.
