This issue has been solved. See solution.

Is PGP Desktop Home 10.2.1 compatibile with Windows 8?  If not, is the most recent vercent of Home compatible?

My primary use is for single-file or zip encryption via Windows Explorer. I do not use Whole Disk Encryption.

The Windows 8 compatibility site shows PGP Desktop Professional 10.x as compatible with Windows 8, but I'd just as soon not go there. Home is way more Gun than I need, so Pro is way more.

TIA

Gary

Please see this Knowledge Base Article.  Although there is not yet a released version of PGP Desktop with Windows 8 support, it sounds like people trying it are generally reporting success, except for use of the Whole Disk Encryption.  You might interested in knowing that all the PGP Desktop "products" for any particular version number are actually the same software - it is just the license that determines which component is available for each user.
