PGP Desktop Passphrase change not recognized

Created: 16 Aug 2012 • Updated: 16 Aug 2012 | 3 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

PGP Desktop 10.2.1 (build 4461) on a Lenovo T4202 Windows 7 64-bit.

I changed the passphrase for the only key listed but the change never goes into effect.  The old passphrase (from the secondary user I had to create at the time of PGP installation) is the only passphrase that will open the device.

I am permitted to change it via teh Ket Properties window but when I save, close and reboot the change never goes into effect.

Also tried and failed to invoke Single sign-on.  Used Ctrl-Alt Del to change the Windows login.  That took effect at the Windows login level but SSO did not take effect nor is the Windows password recognized by PGP at bootup.

Is there some additional trick to changing a passphrase?

It sounds like you are trying to change the passphrase used by PGP Whole Disk Encryption to boot the machine?  If this is correct, and if a key is being used for this, it would be on a smart card or token?  If it is on an eToken, the passphrase would have to be via the PKI Client.  Please clarify.

Yes.  It is WDE encryption.  I was trying to use desktop instead of the disk option on menu.  Did not know those keys were separate.

Found the right place to start.  Password change accepted.  SSO works. Problem solved. thank you.
