I have come here out of frustration, having been unable to renew my maintenance contract - I bought PGP Desktop/Disk Encryption before it was taken over by Symantec.

The renewal ID sent by Symantec at the end of last year was 'not recognised' when I attempted to pay the annual renewal fee. Links on the web site do not all work (get 'page not found') and today an email sent to Customer Care (as a cc-addressee) using the email address on the web site, was rejected because the addressee was not recognised.

I did get an email from one of my 'successful' attempts to ask the question in January but the reply only gave me a link to where I should have asked the question. However, I cannot get past the Symantec barriers (such as needing Technical Contactg ID, Suport Number or Technical Case ID).

It looks as though I will have to uninstall PGP Desktop and use other software instead. I have already replaced NIS 2012 with Bitdefender which is much better.

So, my question is can anyone recommend an alternative to PGP Desktop/Total Disk Encryption, that is just as good or better, please?

    Thank you.

I have received an answer in reponse to my 'reply to' email from previous email correspondence and I believe that I now have my answer.

Reading "between the lines" it would seem that the PGP Product that I original bought as a private individual, before the company was taken over by Symantec, is now being managed as a Business Solution ONLY.

Because I need a 12-digit Support ID (or something else that I don't have), I cannot contact the correct department via the web site or by telephone. Consequently the solution appears to be 'go elsewhere'.

This is not the first time that I have been disappointed that Symantec no longer values Customer Service. There are now 5 PCs that have had Norton/Symantec products replaced and, as an IT Professional, I have stopped recommending Symantec products.
