Endpoint Encryption

I cannot figure out why PGP Engine seems to quit about 50% of the time when encrypting a file via the services menu. The encryption desktop icon from the menu bar disappears as well. It relaunches when I select the encrypt service once again, typically works for one file, and then quits withe the next file. Problem occurred with MacOSX 10.8.x and continues with 10.9.2. Currently running Symantec Encryption Desktop 10.3.2.

Do you receive a dialog message with the possibility of seeing a Report?
Is it saved a crash report in the disk?

Far from being an expert on crash analysis, my understanding is that the crash occurs removing the observer "forKeyPath". Though, not sure which is this key it is referring to. It seems also that the client was attempting to get the output path "getOutputPath:destination:message".

Do you have a standalone client or is it managed by a SEMS? If managed, what is your key mode (SKM, GKM, CKM, SCKM)?

Do you have the keyring placed in the default location?

The path to the keyring is long or contains some special characters?

I think you selected the action to Encrypt&Sign. Can you select only Encrypt OR Sign?

Are you using any particular location to perform the operation? Long input/output path for the origin/output files? Special characters? Is it located in the local disk?
 

 

You should contact the Technical Support to clarify if this is a product bug or if it is related with some other condition in the system environment.

No resolution. Still occurs about every other use. The encryption desktop icon disappears from the menu bar. When I activate from the contextual menu (R click), the service relaunches and most of the time works; but only once. Next encryption fails again.

Maybe you could answer DCATS last post with questions and we can probably help you in your situation.

What features are you using with Symantec Encryption Desktop (SED) on Mac? Virtual Disk? Is filevault enabled at all?

I use a standalone client, Encryption Desktop Mac v. 10.3.2MP1. MacOSX 10.9.3

Path to keyring: ~/Documents/PGP/keyrings in here

I typically select encrypt only from the services contextual menu. Rarely encrypt and sign.

It's on a local disk, my startup disk. Output in same location as original typically not a long path.
