  • 1.  PGP Engine requires high performance GPU?

I just upgraded to PGP 10.3.2 MP6 to get things running on Mac OS X 10.10, and generally things seem to be working.  However, I just noticed today that the PGP Engine process is for some reason set to require the high performance GPU, so battery life on my MacBook Pro is decidedly lower now.  Is there any way to remove this requirement?

PGPengine needs to run for using Symantec Encryption Desktop.

If disk is already encrypted and IF we are NOT using encryption desktop for any other purpose, we can remove pgpengine from login items so pgp does not startup as startup item.

Can you give more information on how much resuorce pgpengine is taking up. Also is encryption of disk happening in the background ?

The question is not whether PGPEngine needs to run, the question is why does it require use of the discrete GPU as opposed to using the integrated graphics card.

Is it when encryption is happening on the background the discrete GPU is used up by pgpengine or just after installing Encryption Desktop.

If its just after installation, I would suggest you to create a support case on this issue so our engineers can take a closer look at it.

It's just after installation, not when any encryption operations are going on.

I don't think I actually have rights to open an official support case.
