PGP Force Update?

Created: 26 Oct 2011 • Updated: 27 Dec 2011 | 4 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

Is there anyway to force the update to appear for a client on their PC? In my case from version 10.1 to 10.2. Is there anyway to do it from the management console or from the client itself? Usually an update policy makes it appear a few minutes later but that has not happened for all.

If you don't get help with this, I'd suggest trying the PGP Universal Servers forum.

Policy updates can be manually done from the client. Look for PGP Lock at Windows tray (next to clock), right click on it, Update policy.

You can also change update policy schedule: Go to Universal Policy, Desktop, General tab.

Julian - I believe OP is referring to the actual version update, not just the policy.

The actual client version update will only notify the user if they have the appropriate privelages. I believe these are 'local admin'.

If the privelages aren't met, they won't be notified of the available upgrade.

Hi JJpenney,

This can be done with a third party tool OR GPO Group policy to push the software to the client systems.

And the use of embeded policy under consumer policies on the Universal Server configuration will help to push the software to the client systems, although you may try the scripts if you are familiar with them.
