PGP Global Directory does not send verification email

  • 1.  PGP Global Directory does not send verification email

    I followed instructions given on https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.HOWTO42020.html to submit my public PGP key to PGP Global Directory (https://keyserver.pgp.com) but after uploading the key file I have not received the verification email to the corresponding email address at gmail.com. (I also checked the spam folder.)

    After a few hours I tried to repeat the submission but the page gave the following message:

    "A pending key submission is already in progress for email addresses on the submitted key. The instructions in the previous verification emails must be followed in order to make a change, or you may resubmit this request in 24 hours."

    which shows that the server actually knew about my submission.

    I retried that submission several times during last 10 days but never received the verification email.

    Has anyone seen this issue before and how to solve it?

    Hi,

    Yes, I'm seeing the same problem.

    Twice now in the last month, I've submitted one of my users keys to the pgp keyserver, keyserver.pgp.com

    The keyserver reports the key being submitted is OK and says that an email will be sent soon. The users email address is OK.

    But so far they have not had the verification email from the keyserver. I've checked the users email Spam filter, and the email is not being caught by this.

    I've posted a similar question to yours.

    It's getting worse as now my users are not getting the verification emails that they used to get, and so keys are becoming disabled in various keyrings.

    I've heard nothing from Symantec and no way of knowing if the keyserver is actually sending the emails.

    Sorry I'm no help, but sometimes it's nice to know you're not the only one with the same issue.

    I'm having the same issues and it is causing some headaches for us.

    What gives????? No response from SYmantec!

    Hello All,

    Could you please confirm the email address used, is it for Gmail?

    This has been tried with Gmail account and seen similar issue, however Symantec email account works fine.

    Hello, having same issue for some time now, I registered esspecially since I see a symantec emplyee has taken intrest.

    I use NOT free mails, 2 diferent servers, 2 different countries, 2 different domains.

    Both failed. Never get this verification email.

    Hi Shahidhussain,

    Although we have our own email address, by this I mean that our email address' do not end with gmail.com, the emails are processed by Gmail.

    I've checked the Gmail is not spamming the keyserver emails.

    I tried to submit my keys several times during the last month for two email addressess: one at Gmail and one at my employer (hosted on our own MS Exchange Server) but in both cases I did not receive the verification email.

    This is an ongoing issue and Symantec is working with the internal related team and will get back to you once there is an update available.

    The issue with the Global directory has been resolved. Please try to upload the keys to our servers again. Here is the article for the same.

    Hi,

    Yes that seemed to have fixed it, I've now had two emails through to two different users, just a few seconds after uploading their keys.
