  • 1.  PGP Shred "fails to shred"

    Posted Aug 03, 2012 01:08 PM

    Hello,

I'm running PGP Desktop 10.2 (64bit version).  The PGP Shred function does not work when attempting to shred files on network drives.  However, it does shred files on local drives.

    I am running Windows 7 Pro SP1 64bit in a Windows 2008 domain environment.

We have approx 100 computers on our network, everyone of which is experiencing this issue.  I did see a previous post regarding this issue, but the thread was locked and there was no solution offered.

Is anyone else experiencing this?  Has anyone discovered a solution?

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Thank you

As you able to delete the files normally?  i.e. do you have permission to delete on the network shares?

Yes, I have full Share and NTFS permissions and can delete files normally.

Where are the files hosted?  Are they on a NAS or SAN or just on a file server?

    Hello Madendevr,

All these files that PGP fails to shred must be "Read only" files. This is a know issue and is under works at Symantec encryption team.

If it is the same problem, you can escalate this case to Symantec tech support if you wish to.
