I have recently taken over a network that runs a windows domain. There is an exchange server, Barracuda spam filter and PGP Universal email encryption server. When I change my domain administrator password, about 30 minutes later, email stops coming in or going out. Internal email and encrypted email work just fine. All of our email goes through our PGP Universal Server(R) Version 2.8.

Are their credentials that my PGP server uses to communicate with the domain that I need to update? The reason I ask is because of the error message that is showing up in my PGP server logs. "SMTP Data event: Invalid Credentials".

Any suggestions would be very helpful. I am lost.

    Thanks,

    Eric-

Probably this is related to AD integration; Universal  might be using Domain admin credentials.

You can check/change this in  Services > Directory Synchronization > Click on Domain .

There must be a credential set for AD

Best practice is to use any account with read access only.

Or you can change the administrator password so it matchs the new one.

    Please, Inform results

That is exactly what I needed.

    Thanks for the quick response!

Even a "user" template is too many permissions for the PGP UN to read LDAP, it needs the base of base.  Just create something and make their password never expire, and if you're really security conscious, remove every single permission from it except read access to the domain via LDAPS

You should seriously consider updating your server.  Giving the best case (2.8.3 instead of 2.8.0) means you last updated the server with the version that was released ~July 2008.  Would you run any WIndows box without applying a single update for four years?  2.x being end of life'd and end of support life'd gets an honorable mention as well.
