    Windows XP
    Office 2003 (outlook 2003)
    PGP desktop v10

When receiving encrypted emails, some messages does not fully decrypt.

We can only view the full email message once we add the "message" field, in outlook's column. (see attached picture)

NOTE: with the attached picture, you can see the extra "message field" with the full email text, but when u look down at the preview window (or open the email), it does not show any of the message.

We have also used "PGP viewer", and try to decrypt a saved email that way, no errors, but still does not show the full message.

any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
    _lex

    Hi Julian,

as from the attached picture, the full message can not be seen in the body of the email, everything seems to be decrypted fine, BUT its not. Only when you enable "message" in outlook's column. Is only when you can see the real message from the person who sent the message.

Please see the NEW attached image.

I guess if you close pgp and open outlook, then open the email, you will see the encrypted email, and the text encrypted as a file attachement.

save attached file and open using pgp desktop as another pgp encrypted file...what can you see now??

    Hi Julian,

Well.... After doing what you have told me, it has worked.

If PGP is turned off, We can read/view the original email message! which then has a *.pgp attachment.
In order to view the attachment, PGP needs to be turned back on.

So.... now the question is, how to make this work as it should? as we really dont want to be turning PGP on & Off to view emails.

(From what i have noticed, it seems that when PGP is on, the PGP attachment message over writes what can been seen with the original email.)

Then you can disable email portion so emails wont be decrypted when PGP is running.

You will need msi installation file for pgp.

    msiexec /I pgpdesktop.msi PGP_INSTALL_MAPI=0 PGP_INSTALL_NOTES=0 PGP_INSTALL_LSP=0

If you dont have MSI installation file, you can get it from temp folder
    Windows XP:   C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Temp\PGP52f59.
    Windows 7:      C:\Users\<user name>\Local Settings\Temp\PGP52f59.

When you execute .exe installation file, msi will be saved to this folder.

Thanks for the reply once again Julian,

But... if we disable the email (PGP) then how will we encrypt the emails that we send out? As PGP needs to be enabled to work with outlook.

I've not been following this thread, and hope this option may be relevant to your need.

You can separate your PGP messaging service into two, by deleting the entries for either the outgoing or incoming email and then create a new messaging service for the entries you just deleted.  If you then right click on the one that covers incoming email, select Disable Service, the email proxy will only be used only on outgoing email.
