    PGP Whole Disk Encryption (WDE) is supported on the following Windows Server versions:

    • Windows Server 2003 SP 2 32-bit editions
    • Windows Server 2003 SP 2 64-bit editions
    • Windows Server 2008 SP 1 and 2 32-bit editions
    • Windows Server 2008 SP 1 and 2 64-bit editions
    • Windows Server 2008 R2 32-bit editions
    • Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit editions

    Question:

    Is WDE compatible with virtual machine with Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit??

    Hi, Mehmood,

    As per latest release notes of Symantec Drive Encryption 10.3.2 is supported on the following OS'es:

    Symantec Encryption Desktop can be installed on systems running the following versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems:

     

    Windows Server 2012 R2 (64-bit edition)

    Windows Server 2012 (64-bit edition)

    Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit edition)

    Windows Server 2008 (32-bit edition)

    Windows Server 2003 (32- and 64-bit editions, including Service Pack 1 or 2)

    The above operating systems are supported only when all of the latest hot fixes and security patches from Microsoft have been applied.

    The KB which you refer is from 2012.

    Below latest and updated KB should give an answer to your question please:

Software RAID is not supported.

    The vrtual machine I intend to do WDE is:

    Virtual Win 2008 server 64 bit. HyperV environment. 

    Can I carry out Whole disk encryption?

    Hi Mehmood,

    I am afraid SEMS/SED is not officilly supported on HyperV.

    I did not test just to carry out a "disk encryption" on it's own with HyperV based on an official announcement.
    Even if you manage to do so it is still be an unsupported configuration if you hit any potential issues in the future.
