PGP WDE stuck in a boot loop

I have a laptop user w/PGP WDE v9.1 encrypted drive. Upon bootup attempt, the PGP authentication screen appears, accepts passphrase, and acts as if it is proceeding to boot to Windows. The system appears to be stuck in a reboot cycle. I am suspecting an MBR issue but am unsure. I do have a clone of the encrypted HDD which boots fine, except that it's data is stale. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

(System is: Dell Inspiron 6100, WD 250Gb PATA HDD, WIN-XP-Pro-SP3)

The WDE Recovery CD, or

The WDE Recovery CD, or attaching the disk to another computer, may be able to decrypt the disk.

Decryption is not necessary

Thanks for your prompt reply, Tom. I am not concerned with decrypting the HDD. It is accessible and readable on another machine. I am hoping for guidance in repairing the boot loop issue on the same drive as well as some understanding on what caused it. ...Whether this is a PGP or a Windows issue. I would not prefess to be a PGP WDE guru (or the guru of anything for that matter) and appreciate any and all relevant help.

More info... When successfully booting the system from the clone and connecting the HDD in question via USB, PGP does not prompt for authentication of the USB connected drive. When attaching the HDD in question to another system w/PGP Desktop, it does, indeed, request authentication. When attaching the same HDD to a system w/out PGP Desktop, as expected, it sees the drive as being unformatted or otherwise unrecognizable.

All I'm finding that is close

All I'm finding that is close to this, is this Knowledge Base Article.  PGP 9.1 is fairly old; you may want to review its Release Notes to see if it support WinXP SP3.

I would try changing BIOS

I would try changing BIOS settings to default

You can also try hit F8 after passpword is entered. Maybe safe mode can be used.

If no success. I think decrypting the drive is the only option. You can do that slaving the drive to another computer with PGP.

I would install PGP 10.2 MP3 , latest version
