  • 1.  PGP WDE Windows 7 Dual Boot Issue (Blue screen of death)

I have a laptop which has one HDD were I have created two partitions on it, one is for Windows 7 Home Premium and the other partition is for Windows 7 Pro, and I dual boot between these two OS's. I have encrypted the entire HDD, and after I have entered my PGP password I am able to select Boot into Windows 7 Home Premium, but if I reboot and choose my second boot option Windows 7 Pro I get a Blue Screen of Death, both are 64 bit OS's.

I was wondering how do I run  Windows Recovery CD, without decrypting the entire drive to fix the blue screen issue on my second partition, is there a way where after I enter my PGP password I press certain keys where it will boot of the DVD.

I am using PGP WDE version  10.1.1

    Thanks

I've got a feeling that you're going to have to decrypt the drive to fix that, I'm afraid, otherwise the booted DVD won't be able to access the HDD. I don't think you can boot the DVD after Bootguard because Bootguard is displayed when you boot off the HDD only.

When you created the dual boot, did you install PGP on both OSs prior to encrypting? If not, this could be the cause of your BSOD.

This Knowledge Base Article is about WDE Recovery and includes a link for the image for a WDE Recovery CD.  If you use the Recovery CD for decryption, be aware that it is slow16 bit processing that depending on the size of your disk can take days to complete; and once it is started it must not be interupted.

I did not install PGP WDE on my second partition, that's why I am getting the blue screen of death as mention in this KB : https://pgp.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/679/~/dual-boot-operating-system-compatibility-and-pgp-whole-disk-encryption. Thanks to James comments.
