Attempted whole disk decryption via boot disc results in a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner of the screen.  Rebooting to either the boot disc or just a standard boot results in the same thing.

I attempted to call Symantec support but was told that the product was End Of Life'd and that even a paid support call wasn't possible.

I also attempted connecting the drive to another computer via SATA to USB adapter and got a "Disk corrupt" error.

Is there anything else that I can try to get access to this data?

    PGP Desktop WDE 9.8.2

    Hardware:  Lenovo T61 laptop

9.8.2 is not supported anymore. But, are you using 9.8 on the other machine to try and access the drive as secondary disk? If not, it will probably not let you do anything with it.

I would suggest you send me a message with your details, company name, order#, customer# what ever support information you have and I'll see what we can do...

in the meantime run the following commands and record the output as well:

Go to a command prompt and issue:

    cd C:\Program Files\PGP Corporation\PGP Desktop

    pgpwde --enum

Find the disk that is listed as encrypted

    Then issue:

pgpwde --disk (disk id from last command) --list-users

    Then:

pgpwde --disk (disk id) --status --show-config

    Thanks,
    Ben
