Yes, Tom Mc is right. Outlook 2010 is not currently supported with PGP Desktop 10.1.2. I have seen customers get it to work somehow, but what that means is that we haven't fully tested it. Yes, we have seen bugs and issues with Outlook crashing once customers go it to install (on occasion) as well. Our new release, PGP Desktop 10.2 that will be coming out sometime end of Q3 2011 will have Outlook 2010 support.
My first recommendation to you would be to have your customers test with Outlook 2007 first. I would also recommend using LDAP enrollment for the users instead of email enrollment (it just works better).
But, one thing that you could try is to use regedit (always backup your registry before editing). Look at the following registry keys:
- If it's 32-bit outlook go here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PGP Corporation\PGP
Check the PGP_INSTALL_MAPI and PGP_INSTALL_MAPI_PLUGIN and verify that both are set to 1.
also check here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Windows
check the LoadAppInit_DLLs and verify that it's set to 1
2. If its 64-bit Outlook go here instead:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Windows
Verify that LoadAppInit_DLLs is set to 1
If either of those LoadAppInit_DLLs are changed to 0 or that key is missing. This is common with certain types of antivirus software. In which case, I would try to uninstall the AV/security software and see if that helps.
If you manually edit those to 1, make sure that you reboot before trying PGP Desktop again.
That may or may not fix your issue, that is just a known workaround that I ran into that some customers have been able to try.
