    I'm running PGP Desktop 10.1.1 on W7 32 bit.

I'm using the freeware / non commercial use functionality at home. This gives me PGPZip

The Windoes 10 advisor is saying that I'll need to uninstall PGP during the upgrade.

I'm thinking this requirement may be related to the PGP WholeDisk Encryption or Virtual Disk functionality - and the upgrade would like to see non encrytped disks for the upgrade.

Does anyone know if this assumption would be correct?

I'm guessing PGP Desktop 10.1.1 PGZip functionality will still run on W10 because it is relatively straight forward. I'd think there may be some compatability issues if I was using WDE or Virtual Disks.

    Any views?

I've looked for a more recent freeware / homeware version that would provide PGPZip functionality on the Symantec website, and I've found trial products but it is not clear what happens after the trial. Will I have limited functionality or will I have no functionality?

What is the best way forward?

I guess I could just try it. :-)

    Thanks

We currently don't have official Windows 10 support, but I have tried the latest version (10.3.2 mp9) without any issues so far for encrypting files and even drive encryption on a Windows 10 beta.  I have to add the disclaimer that this was mainly just curiosity, and not in any official capacity.  Mileage may vary, use at your own risk.

The product can be used in an unlicensed fashion, but you will lose much of the functionality, just like the previous versions.  Be sure to carefully read the agreement before accepting it when you install.  After installation, the unlicensed version will still work for PGP Zip, Shredder, and Virtual Disk I believe.  It should be the same features you see on 10.1.x unlicensed.

Thanks for the reply. Appreciate W10 support may not be official.

Where can I find 10.3.2 mp9? Do you have a link please?

You have been quite specific about me reading the agreement before accepting it. Are you trying to warn me of something specific?

    Thanks again.

You can get the trialware here:
    http://www.symantec.com/desktop-email-encryption/

Note that Desktop Email Encryption is part of the Symantec Encryption Desktop package (formerly PGP Desktop), and they contain the same basic features when not licensed.

I mentioned the agreement because there are specific use cases where it is not allowed to be utilized as freeware, and those use cases are covered in the agreement, so other people that find this post will be aware.  I feel as a Symantec employee, I should bring it up before advising people how to get it.  I just like to be thorough.
