This issue has been solved. See solution.

BE 2012 and Pool of multiple backup to disk.

Once a backup 2 disk is full, backup throws above execption and will not automatically move to next one,

Even though "All disk pool" is selected in all our backup job.

Any possible solution?

Hi

In BE console, click on backup exec icon on left and click on setting and then click on storage, make sure below settings are in place.(Added snap below)

1) Overwrite Protection Level is set as "Partial"

2) Use Recyable media before using scratch media option is enabled.

Hope that helps

Thanks

1) Overwrite Protection Level is set as "Partial" - Yes it is

2) Use Recyable media before using scratch media option is enabled. - already selected as well,

Seems like another bug with Be 2012.

BE 2012 does not span between devices in a pool at this current time. You have to make sure that there is enough space in the online device for your job.

Also note GRT sets wil never be able to span as the mount requirements to do a GRT restore get in the way.

Finally we do have a load balancing issue for devices in a pool where it will use on device until it is full, then at least one job will fail which will cause the device to be reported full and then teh next jonb will start on thje next device - not ideal and we are looking into that.

If you feel you issue is a defect then please log a formal suppot case, if you feel it needs a design change then use the Create Content --> Ideas at the top of the forum pages to submit an enhancement request

Hey Colin,

Is this fixed now?

Or is BE 2012 sensible enough now that, it wont start a job on drive, which does not have enough free space
and use the one with space?

I just noticed a job which started on E drive (with only 7gb remaining), and now it running properly on F drive.

Well, if job cannot span.. then what is the use to create pools?

Anyways.. creating ticket and waiting ages for a call back, is no longer a option for me

I would delete the pools and manually distribute backup2 disk between jobs like oldways

(If it is still a option ).
