I've got a similar problem, is PMI the "Import Patch Data for Windows" task?

Mines been running for 123hrs, normally takes around 2hrs, any new bullettins I want to download won't start, I think it's due to this task still running. I'm not really sure where to start troubleshooting.

Name: Run Import Patch Data for Windows on Schedule
    Start time: 4/05/2012 2:00:02 a.m.

    Hello,

Could you please provide additional details on this matter?

    • What version of Patch Management Solution do you have?
    • How many products and languages do you have enabled in PMImport?
    • Do you have the option "Incremental import" checked?
    • Do you have the option "Automatically revise Software Update policies after importing patch data" checked?
    • Do you have the option "Disable Superseded Software Updates" checked?

    Thanks,

    Dmitri

    • What version of Patch Management Solution do you have? 7.1 Sp2
    • How many products and languages do you have enabled in PMImport? 27 products, 1 language
    • Do you have the option "Incremental import" checked? yes
    • Do you have the option "Automatically revise Software Update policies after importing patch data" checked? no
    • Do you have the option "Disable Superseded Software Updates" checked? yes

I've just had another look after we rebooted the server earlier today, and there were 2 that have been running for 7 hours, started about 10mins apart, I've deleted one of them, hopefully it will be finished in the morning and the May updates are there.

    Thanks

Most likely described issue is already resolved by recent pointfix.

Please contact support to obtain it.

May I ask what issue in the pointfix addresses this issue?

My task complete after almost 10 hours, another one started on schedule at 2am, it's been running for 5 hours, how long should it take? I have unselected the software we don't actually use, I should have done that before, only 11 vendors now, with not all their software selected. Our SQL box is alerting high CPU usage, not sure if that's related to the task taking so long.

    Hello,

The link you provided is refering to the pointfixes for SMP (Symantec Management Platform), but the pointfix I'm refering above is for PMW (Patch Management for Windows).

    Thanks!

    Hello,

Please make sure to contact a support and describe your issue with the PMImport. Most likely the point fix for PMImport released for 7.1 SP2 Patch Management Solution will resolve this issue.

    Thanks!

I honestly did not know there were pointfixes for each piece.  It seems logical that there would be though, so now I feel dumb.  Thanks!  :D
