  • 1.  Policy Error building the policy cache

    I created a policy group to mirror another policy group w/ one difference. The difference being the a policy that redirects the agents to a difference management server. After moving the agents between groups, I recieve this error as well as an "!" next to the agent:

    ** Policy Error has occurred at 04-Jan-2012 09:08:38 EST
    An error occured trying to build the policy cache for Detection Policies (26).
    Not a zip file

    I've only seen one other post on this. I'm wondering if there is a way to resolve this error w/o rebooting and what the actual explanation of the error is...

    Are you attempting to apply 26 detection policies, and move the agent to a new server all in one shot?

    Are there any agent machines this successfully works with? (Just to see if this is a one-off issue).

    Try withdrawing all the policies, then moving the agent to the new management server, then reapplying the polices from the new manager.

    As a test, can you get the Detection policies to apply before you attempt to move the client to a new management server?

    I initially was trying to apply the 26 detection policies and move the agent to a new server in one shot. This isn't working with any servers (the ones I'm trying to move are domain controllers).

    I've withdrawn policies, tried moving the agent to the new server, then reapplied the policies in small batches and I recieve the same error right off the bat.

    I tried moving the agent back to it's original policy group (and management server) and the error persists, even there.

    Then, I tried applying the detection policies first, then moving the agent to a new management server.

    It's the same exact set of policies, except one policy group points to manager A, and the other policy group points to manager B. For whatever reason, returning the agent to it's original policy group doesn't resolve the error.

    Is there a command that I can execute from the console to force a policy retranslation?

    What version of SCSP are you using? I ran into a similar issue when using modular prevention policies. It had to do with the policy translator on the management server. The latest maintenance release fixed the issue for us.

    The 5.2.0.4.9.3 build is from 12/19/2007.  

    You probably need to update the client build . . . we are currently on 5.2.8.186 for the Windows agent.

    Is this for Windows or another OS?

    If you want to force a policy re-translation, run "sisipsconfig -n" on the agent.
