  • 1.  Port 80 to be opened for Webserver

    Posted Sep 27, 2012 12:59 AM

    Dear,

We use SEP12.1 for some cleints and SEP11.6 for some clients

We are planning to have a local Webserver through IIS for some clients. Clients will be connected to webserver through port 80.

How can I know SEP is used by which port? if it is used by SEP then, how to have port 80 for webserver, how to open port 80?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

SEP 12.1 Client used port 8014.

Which Communications Ports does Symantec Endpoint Protection use?

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH163787

Port Number Port Type Initiated By Listening Process Description
    80, 8014 TCP SEP Clients svchost.exe (IIS)
    httpd.exe (Apache)
Communication between the SEP manager and SEP clients and Enforcers.
(8014 in MR3 and later builds, 80 in older).
The 11.x product line uses IIS. The 12.x product line uses Apache.

default is 8014, you can use the netstat command to know the port open on SEPM.or check the port from the file

    \Program Files\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\apache\conf\httpd.conf

to change the port, follow this article

    Dear,

I found Port 8014 in netstat being used with SEPM to clients, so that means i can used port 80 for webserver?

I can't find port 80 in netstat as listening, established or timewait, that means is it blocked by SEPM or is it not using? how to open this port?

    Thanks in advance

in SEP 11.5 I found port 80 is used, can I simultaneously use port 80 for webserver aswell?

or else if I want to get the port free then, I must move the remaining clients to SEP12.1 rather than changing port of 11.5 - is there any tool for one time push from SEP 12 to the older clients, then I can completely take out the SEP11.5 - what are the best steps to accomplish this?

    Thanks in advance

    HI,

You can upgrade all sep 11.5 client to sep 12.1 .

Upgrade clients to SEP 12.1 by Auto upgrade feature
