Hi,

I am creating my own pre boot image, I want when I Pxe boot any system using Altiris DS, Altiris should use my Pre boot image instead of its own image. How can I achieve this.

I am using Altiris DS 7.1 SP1

Thanks

Aditya

Its fairly simple: 1.

Its fairly simple:

1.       Create Preboot Image for PXE (x86/x64 as needed)

2.       Create a task Reboot to > Select PXE > Select your created image

3.       (Make sure that your Preboot image is created ) Run above task for your managed client computer/ Select the same PXE Preboot image for Predefined and Unknown computer

Your client should boot to your Preboot PXE image :)

Where/why?

Where are you creating this preboot image, and what led to you needing to create a preboot image outside of Altiris?  If you have some more details we can probably help a little more.  The best bet is typically to create the Preboot image within Altiris, and if you absolutely must make a modification, to make it to the preboot image that Altiris created and replicates, rather than to create your own environment entirely.

Hi, The context here is for

Hi,

The context here is for LinPE boot image. The issue is that we have some product drivers for the latest kernel version with us and when we try to use them with the current LinPE (BDCgpl_6.9.9340.frm) it panics.

As of now the Altiris Pre boot image kernel which as per our understanding is sitting on 2.6.2.7 is some what old to support our product drivers. So for this reason we are planning our own custom pre boot image with the required product drivers working.

For the above mentioned issue we want to understand if we can in some way either build the Altiris template .frm or can we point altiris to use our custom pre boot image for LinPE PXE boot process.

Thanks

Aditya

what you could do is create a

what you could do is create a Preboot Configuration as outlined by Vaibhav Sharma, then replace the boot.win of the preboot with your own boot.wim. This is not supported but it should work :)
