Prepare for Image Capture and Deployment with custom unattend file - failing

  • 1.  Prepare for Image Capture and Deployment with custom unattend file - failing

    Good afternoon,

Altiris 7.5 SP1 - built fresh Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 image, installed Symantec Management Agent, ran prepare for image capture, captured image - this works and the image is available after capture and the machine used to capture boots back to Windows just fine without issue.

However, when attempting to deploy the image using a known working unattend file (tried a few different files that are known to have worked on manual Windows install) I get the following message: "Windows could not parse or process unattend answer file [C:\Windows\Panther\unattend.xml] for pass [specialize].  The answer file is invablid."

Using the @compName token here and I've also tried without that setting set (this should prompt for computer name then).

Is anyone else having trouble with this process?  The unattend file being used for prepare is the default one provided by Symantec and during the deployment of the captured image I've even tried to deploy it with the deployunattend file provided by default.

Any help would be awesome!  A few of the answer files I've been trying worked flawlessly with Altiris 7.1 - not sure why they wouldn't work now.  Also, in WAIK they are verified without any errors in the Image Manager (xml builder interface).

Okay, quick update here: Looks like DeployAnywhere is causing the issue(s).  Not sure why.  This is testing to phsycal desktops/laptops of varying models and a couple of VMware VM's.
