I am currently in the process of upgrading from 12.1.1 to 12.1.6, I will be installing 12.1.6 on Windows Server 2012 R2. When I get to adding the database(using existing database) I get "The server schema is higher than the database schema. The configuration cannot continue for adding new server"

12.1.1 is on a Windows Server 2003 box and the database is SQL Server version 10.0.

How do I go about fixing this issue?

    Thanks,

    Adrian

yes, you will see the error becuase the server is running with 12. RU1 schema and you might be adding different version of SEPM as a load balance.

You can add a new server as a load balance with 12.1 RU1 version and then upgrade both the servers to RU6.

    OR

upgrade the existing environment to 12. RU6 and then add a new server.

I am guessing upgrading will require a reboot?

I would suggest you first upgrade the original SEPM to 12.1.6 then you should be able to add the new server (same version).

    Typically does not, no.

SEPM upgrade does not require reboot.
