Also, please paste following outputs:

# modinfo | grep -i vx
# vradmin -g <diskgroup> -l repstatus <rvg>
# vradmin -g <diskgroup> -l printrvg <rvg>
# vxprint -Pl
# vxprint -qhtg <diskgroup>

Couple of more queries:

a) Which node you tried running a fbsync ? actual primary or new primary ?
b) When you say fbsync failed, what was the error you saw ?
c) Did you tried forcing one of nodes to become secondary ?

# vradmin -g <diskgroup> makesec <rvg> <new_primary>

# vradmin -g <diskgroup> -f makesec <rvg> <new_primary>
