  • 1.  The PRIMARY server is not available

    I installed Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 10.1.5 on a Netware 6.5 server that is running GW 703.  On WinXP workstation I installed Symantec System Center 10.1.5. 5002.   When I try to manage I received the following message:  Symantec Antivirus is unable to configure Server Group (DAM) because a Primary server was not found.  I can’t manage the Netware 6.5 server from MMC (Symantec System Center).  The PRIMARY server is not available. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You!

    Could firewall be blocking the connection?

     

    Do a search for the primary in SSC (Tools->Find Computer). That sometimes helps.

    No Firewall between the server. Using the SSC (Tools->Find could) I find the Novell server but it states that I should load SAV on the server which is already running.

    I have to make sure that you installed the SERVER version and not the CLIENT? Can you have a look at the server what ports is it listening to? Why did you install 10.1.5 as it's old version instead of 10.1.8?

    I only have the 10.1.5 version.  But if you can point me to where I can download it I would appreciate it.  

    I check the Log file and it states: Symantec AntiVirus communications layer failed to initialize.  Remote manageability has been disabled.  A Server certificate does not exist. 

     

    I have GroupWise 7 configured on the server with LDAP Authentication.
