Proactive Threat Protection and ODBC Connections?

We use a program called SASIxp which basiclly uses a short cut on the users desktop to connect to the software and database on a local or remote server.  Since deploying Symantec to our clieints this product doesn't work.  It just hands and the laptop/desktop locks up.  I have found that by disabling Proactive Threat Protection everything works again.  Can anyone tell me what I should look for to and as an exception?  Is there an exception I can add for ODBC?  Is it ODBC that might be being blocked by Proactive Threat Protection?

Any ideas???

Thanks,

Kris Turner

Proactive Threat Protection

Hi,

In fact under Centralized Exceptions you can exclude the program that you want your users to access. The Proactive Threat Protection is a real time protection feaature and the files or the folders that the program tries to access could trigger the PTP.

ODBC would not be blocking it

ODBC would not be blocking it and there is no place to create exception for ODBC.

What you can do is Create Exception  for SASIxp in PTP

Title: 'How to create an exception for a known valid process flagged by Proactive Threat Protection'

The only way I know it is

The only way I know it is Proactive and not Application is I have everything disabled and all policies withdrawn except for proactive.  If I disable that feature the program works.

It isn't a program installed on the desktops.  In short it is just a shortcut copied over from the Server onto the users desktop.  When they click on the icon it then connects via an ODBC System Setting that will then start the Java enabled window  that pops up.  Could Proactive Threat be  blocking Java?  There are no logs that say it is being blocked.
