Proactive Threat Protection on Windows 7
I am deploying Windows 7 Enterprise x64 to my domain. I have upgraded the Management console to 11.0.5002.333, and am ready to start updating the clients on the current XP, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2003, and Server 2008 machines in my environment.
I understand that Proactive Threat Protection does not work on Windows 7 x64. What holes am I leaving in my environment not installing it on the systems that it supports? Is there another Symantec product that can replace it? Any non-Symantec product? (Please don't fill this thread with posts about how bad Symantec is, blah blah blah. I know all about it. This is what we're using, and what I need help with. Thank you.)
I have exported the Installation Package without Proactive Threat Protection. What BAD things happen if I leave it in and it gets installed on Windows 7? I ran a manual installation on my WIndows 7 machine and it installed, and appeared to update properly.
Thank you for the answers!

With not installing PTP on 64
With not installing PTP on 64 bits you are not leaving any security holes on system. It just that you are not able to use Application and Device control Proactive threat scan feature on these system.
The real security feature lises Antivirus and Antispywae and IPS system ( network threat Protection.
As a Workaround for PTP scan you can increase the bloodhound heuristic sensitivity in file system auto-protect.
I am however not aware of any other security software that does PTP scan and app and device control 64 bit systems.

Hello. I just upgraded to 11.0.5002.333 and am having the issue with Proactive Threat Protection giving errors and not working. Where is the documentation or such that states that this is an x64 issue and it is incompatible? I have been looking but can not find anything. Thank you.
