Hardware Appliance or VM
Hi,
The only hardware form factors we support are the designated appliance line (8340, 8360, 8380 models) or installation to a VM running on ESX 3.5 or ESXi.
You cannot install Brightmail Gateway onto Windows 2003.

Brightmail is running Linux
Hi,
Brightmail is based on Linux!
The ISO contains the full operating system (customized Red Hat) with the Brigtmail services on top.
It will only run on the hardware appliances or VMware.
We have not tested it on Virtual Server from Mircrosoft.

Brightmail Gateway is a fully
Brightmail Gateway is a fully hardened OS (RedHat) with the Brightmail SW embedded (install it either on the Symantec HW 8300-series or as a VM on an ESX server). If you want the software to install on a Windows Exchange server, you'll need Brightmail for Exchange.
if you want to run anti-spam
if you want to run anti-spam in windows then go for SMS for SMTP version 5, and for brightmail gateway you need to install vmware esxi which is recommanded or even you can run on vmware workstation.
