  • 1.  Problem Capturing Image

    Posted Nov 13, 2014 10:21 AM

Currenty using CMS7.5 SP1 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1. I have the NS set up and a site server setup.

I am trying to capture an image off of a Win7 Enterprise SP1. PXE boot works and boot to automation also works.

This is the error that I get from the Task when it fails.

ErrorMessage: The Exception have occured in Client Imaging Task. Exception has occured in File SMPPackage.cpp at Line No 154. Type of exception is GeneralError. Error is Can not find out web/unc path.. Error Description is utilCSMPPackageInitialiaze. Value of Windows error code = 183 and message is Cannot create a file when that file already exists.

This is the output from the DSTask.log for this specific task.

After lookin at this it seems to me that there is a folder missing in IIS, specifically the "PS" folder under the Altiris site.

My question is how would I go about installing this dierctory without manually creating the folder structure, and potentially breaking everything that is working?

We just upgraded from ITMS 7.5 HF 5 to ITMS 7.5 SP1 HF3 and are receiving this exact same error message when we try to capture both a Windows 7 X86 Pro and Windows 7 x64 Pro backup images.

    Any help would be appreciated.

We found the problem in our enviroment.  Our Package Server didn't get the update to it's Deployment Package Server plug-in after the upgrade to ITMS.

This was a silly mistake on our part as we forgot to turn on the Deployment Package Server Components - Upgrade policy.  We are now able to capture images.

I'm not sure if this is the same thing in your enviroment, but maybe it would narrow it down to a problem with that plug-in on your PS.

JonahG is correct.  There were some back-end changes between DS 7.1 and DS 7.5.  I would start by making sure that everything is up to date...

Please have a look at this:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH222398

if the PS virtual directory in IIS is missing on the Site Server, please log a case with support

    Regards,
