Problem with Celerra NDMP backup
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 8 comments
Hi.. I have a problem with backup of EMC Celerra using NDMP.. After successful backup ndmp tape drive path is turned down .. I thought it could be SSO problem so I've created dedicated tape drive only for Celerra but still the same error..
Maybe you know where could I find logs from Celerra regarding tape operations or maybe you had the same errors ?

EMC Celerra NS20
os type "DartOS"
os version "EMC Celerra File Server.T.5.6.42.501"
Master/Media Server: Windows 2003 SP2 x86
Did you find anything in the Windows Event Log?
Thanks, Karthikeyan Sundaram.
You porbably think about this document..
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/279687.htm
But os version on Celerra is much older.

ltid debug logs shows this:

It's strange becasue Creditenials are configured properly, I can verify and probe Cellera host.. but for example after 30 minutes after backup NDMP path is turned off and next backup ends with errors because of no drives available. I have to manually change drive state to up to turn on ndmp path.
bptm doesnt show any errors.

Event Application logs for AVR shows this:
ndmp_public_session_create() failed: Unable to retrieve authentication challenge from NDMP server
Altho' we don't utilise EMC filers, there certainly appears to be some authentication issue here?
Have trawled thru' the Knowledgebase etc tho' all I could find, that hasn't already been suggested, is the following posting which may be of use:
NDMP ERROR
Have you made any changes recently that may have affected this backup, or is it something that has never worked?
