Hello,

Currently, I am working on Deployment Solution 7.1 on customer site but I have always fail (problem) when I capture image client (Windows XP via LAN).

Preparation to do this activity for capture image,
• On Server
   o MS Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise Ed. SP2 Installed
o Symantec Management Platform 7.0.7416 Installed
o Altiris Deployment Solution 7.1.598 Installed
• On Client
o MS Windows XP SP3 Installed
  o Altiris Agent installed
  o Deployment plug-in Install

I’ve created with using Client Job sequence with Job start,
• Prepare for Image Capture --> success
• Capture Image --> failed
• Reboot To Production --> failed

Is this the right steps for capture image ? or maybe is there any another the best practice for capture image ?

Actually I don’t know the right steps for capture image so I need you help for provide me best practice guidance (steps-by-steps) for capture image and also restore (deploy) image.

Hopefully, I have a good news from you all regarding this case.

Thanks & rgds,
Hendardi

Part of the Prepare for image

Part of the Prepare for image is to boot the cliente to an automation environment.  PXE or folder boot are your options, once in automation the capture image should start. if not fir the pectagent.exe is running, in the commad prompt type "taskmgr" and see if the agent is running.  If not then you might have a DNS issue.  Ping the NS server by name or FQDN.

Ultimately, check x:\program files\altiirs\altiris agent\logs  there should be a log file for the capture and it might tell u what failed.

Hello Kristanto, Once prepare

Hello Kristanto,
Once prepare for Image Cature is completed, did your machine reboots in automation environment.

Also, have you installed both Deployment plugin as well as Deployment Automation Agent on client machines.
Machine will not reboot unless you have Deployment Automation Agent installed.

Prepare for Image Capture = Runs Sysprep?

Is that step actually running sysprep or do I need to manually run it first and then run this job?

Yes, it is running sysprep.

Yes, it is running sysprep.  once sysprep is complete then the deployment plug-in will reboot the machine into automation eaither PXE or folder boot.

If your are missing the deploy.cab (contains sysprep files) DS 7.1 prepare for imaging will let you know that the file is needed and you have a change to uploaded at that time too.

I'm trying to capture a windows 7 image

I'm trying to capture a windows 7 image.  It keeps failing and never reboots the machine to the automation environment.  I've installed the symantec management agent, deployment plugin, and the deployment automation folder.  This product, so far sucks.

I'm testing Altiris

I'm testing Altiris Deployment Solution and running into the same problem.

DS: 7.1.643.0

NS: 7.0.8641.0

I've tried to create an image from both Windows 7 and Windows XP x86 clients.

The create image task fails with code 0. I've also tried to run the "Prepare for Image capture" and "Reboot To" tasks. Those fail with code 1.

I've successfully run both the "Copy File" and "Capture Personality" task on the Windows 7 computer.

Windows 7 Capture and deployment

Hello, Im currently experiencing the same issue. I have created a job that will prepare the Image for caputure.

1. Runs sysprep

2. Reboot into automation and captures it.

3. Rebooot into production.

The reference client image fails to run the initial task with error code 1. Which within Altiris DS7.1 it doesnt tell you exactly what is occuring. It just states Failed.

The computer does indeed have all the plugins to run this task. It has the Deployment Solution Plug-in and the Automation Plugin installed.

What is the issue here.
