Problem with "Download HP Health Scan SoftPaqs" - 'SP38166'
Error being given is: 'SP38166','ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38001-38500/sp38166.exe','Exception of type \'System.Exception\' was thrown.','25575720','25575720','25575720'
I've looked up the software updates page for the nc6400 (which HPCM is saying this update applies to) and there is no mention of sp38166, which is supopsed to be for "Update the Quick Launch Button Software for Pavilion and Presario notebook PCs," according to a general search on the HP Web site for sp38166.
sp38166 also doesn't appear to be available for download on the above mentioned ftp site.
I've found sp38200, which is als for "HP Quick Launch Buttons Critical Security Update ".
Does anybody know what's going on here?
Cheers,
David.
Duh - Forgot a few basics I guess...
Environment is a very recent HPCM 7.0.1024 with SP1 install. Running on Windows Server 2003 Standard x86 R2 SP2. 2GB RAM and plenty of HD space. SQL 2005 Express 9.00.4035.00 back end, running on the same server.
Whenever I client on "Download Softpaqs" buttin on the "Download HP Health Scan SoftPaqs" console page the softpaqs have downloaded with one exception, which keeps on throwing the error: 'SP38166','ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38001-38500/sp38166.exe','Exception of type \'System.Exception\' was thrown.','25575720','25575720','25575720'
I hope this makes this post a little more useful...
SP38171.exe appears to the replacement for sp38166
I have the same problem. I'm trying to rebuilt a laptop whose hard drive failed. The HP software keeps telling me I need to update the HP Quicklaunch Button software with sp38166.exe. However, that file is not available on HP's ftp server. In looking up the current software and drivers at the HP website for my laptop, I found that the latest version of HP QuickLaunchButton is sp38171.exe. Although I haven't installed it yet, I'll bet it solves both of our problems. Good luck!
Re: SP38171.exe appears to the replacement for sp38166
So did the sp38171.exe work for you?
Wonder why the hard drive failed on the laptop you rebuilt? Mine did the same thing & I had to get a new drive. Wonder if it's a popular problem?? Hmmm...
Is this a problem with HPCM that Symantec need to fix?
This looks to me to be an issue with the HP System Health Scan module in HPCM. It is correctly detecting that an update is required for the HP Quick Launch Button, but it's then identifying a SP that's been superseded by another HP SP. I expect this is something Symantec (I Cannot believe your forum spell checker doesn't recognise Symantec!!!???) support/development/maintenance needs to look into and update. Do we have any representation from Symantec listening in on this thread by any chance, for some input...???
I there anybody from Symantec listening?...
Can somebody from Symantec perhaps shed some light on this problem. I am still getting download failures for a SP that no longer exists on the HP FTP site. The SP has been superceded but HPCM is still having a nervy.
For clarification of the SP being superceded go to:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01300486
Can we now have some clarification on how to get rid of this outdated download from HPCM "Download HP Health Scan SoftPaqs"...
Thanks,
David.
I suspect if you browse to
I suspect if you browse to your file store, delete the relevant .exe and .cva and then re-import HP Softpaqs you should drop it from the list.
