problem downloading redistributable files for wise 7
Hi All!
I'm new with wise 7 so forgive me if I miss out on some things, but my problem is that I am compiling a wsi file and it gets to the point where a message appears saying that wise needs to download redistributable files so I click ok, and it shows me an option where i could download the files, i choose the wise website and then i get an error saying that it has encountered an error downloading the files.
So I download the redistributable WISModules.exe and installed it, and I still get the same error when I compile, it says i have to download the redistributable, but isn't the redistributable the WISModules.exe I already installed? Or does wise 7 still need another redistributable file aside from WISModules.exe? If not, is there a "flag" (a registry entry or file) that I need to modify to tell wise 7 that the redistributables are already installed?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Cherie

Depends which redistributable you are using
There are a number of different redistributables associated with Wise 7 - the primary ones are merge modules, but there are also runtimes such as different versions of windows installer, and different versions of the DotNet frameworks.
So tell us first of all, what distributables you have specified in your WSI project?

Windows intaller 4.x redistributable
I was trying to get the MM/redistributable for the latest Windors Installer (4.5 as of recently). For the Windows Installer Runtimes, I only see 1.1 and 1.2 as being available for download. Is there another repository?
Yes, Microsoft
You can download the latest versions of windows installer from Microsoft, then add them to your environment in the same way as you see the existing runtimes stored.
There is a known issue with downloading redistributables if you are behind a proxy, and there is a knowledgebase article describing how to download these redistributables and runtimes direct - search on http://kb.altiris.com
