  • 1.  Problem with Ghost image on Lenovo T60

We have been using Microsoft Sysrep & Ghost to image our PC's with a "Corporate" image successfully for several years. When we started getting in Lenovo T60's we have started running into problems.  I have an image that runs fine on one T60, once I sysprep it I bring it up to the LAN.  Then on the second T60 I boot to our Boot CD and drop the image.  Once the system reboots it says the hard drive doesn't have a valid operating system.  I have switched the SATA drive to compatibility mode and reading a recent post about a related problem change the security predesk area setting to disabled.  Neither seems to have an impact.  Anyone have any ideas?  I'm starting to get desparate to find a solution.

what happens if you don't use the sysprep? do you still get the same error? maybe you need to make the OS partition as active partition. you can do this by tool called gdisk.exe which comes with Ghost solution suite.

I had the same result when I didn't sysprep the image.  But I did make some headway yesterday.  We use a boot CD made with Bart's PE bootable CD builder. It turns out that the ghost.ini file settings that we have been using had been lost.  We have found that we have to use -ib when the image is created for it to be able to be dropped on a second laptop.  It is rather strange that this only started to be a problem when IBM moved to the T41 product line and has now carried through into the T60's.  There must be something architecturally different that creates the problem.  Thank you for responding to my post.

I was  and do  have an issue where my T60 sometime com up with the message there has been a signature failure after deploying an image to the second machine.  The mbr is the issue, and can be fixed with gdisk but I also think I using the IB switch fixes.  Is it because of the hidden recovery partition?
