Problem - HP T5730 + DS 6.9 + Automation Partition

Sai's picture

I am having problems with my HP T5730 thin clients.

When I tried to image these thin clients with the Automation Embedded Partition, it failed with the following error:

RDEPLOY: The Embedded partition cannot be installed on this File System.

Have anyone seen this error before?

Can my thin clients be installe don the automation partition?

I am currently running DS 6.9.

Thanks for your help.

thin clients

the thin clients may not have x MB of space for the automation partition to be installed.

Is this embedded partition or hidden partition?

You doing this through windows package or installation CD?

Linux, winpe, or Dos enviroment?

do you have bwinst.log available? I will try to obtain it. Can you remind me where I can find this file?

bwinst.log

is on the root of the C: drive in the production OS.

on the 5730 HP and altiris is aware of the client having problems with winpe. HP is working on a fix (dont know E.T.A) I would suggest using linuxPE if you want faster imaging time. The conflict if i remember correctly had to do with memory and the BIOS of that model. Using linux will still get you the desire results that you want with that thin client.

if you refer to https://kb.altiris.com/display/1/articleDirect/index.asp?aid=41056&r=0.1824762 on the reported issue.

Hope that helps

Flaw in the KB site

planecoIT,

I've found that sometimes the KB site doesn't take the links well and it will work if you click the link, click back if you don't see the article and then click the link again.  Don't know why, but the link worked for me by doing that.
