This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

I'm having a problem to add an additional management server.

I'm using RU5, I'm adding a new management server because I want to migrate my SEPM to another machine, and I can not use the disaster recovery because the machine that is holding the SEPM at the moment is my Active Directory, and I can not change the machine name after restore the database.

I've tried to add on the new machine the additonal management server and I don't get any error the service just stay like that "The database is being created and initialized. This will take a few minutes" I left creating the database for about 10 hours and did not finished.

The new machine is running win2008 r2 x64 I've tested the connection with the database and is fine using the odbc from C:\windows\SysWOW64

Does anyone can point me anything else to do.

Thanks

Hi, I believe default SQL

Hi,

I believe default SQL Express 2005 is not supported by SEPM. you need to used the default Sybase database or SQL 2005 (Std / Enterprise Edition). However,

for troubleshooting SEPM attempts to connect to SQL on standard 1433 port and default installation of SQL takes dynamic ports. You can use SQL Management Studio and attempt to connect to the SQL Express. You can change the Port in SQL Management Studio to use port 1433 for SQL and then attempt to install SEPM again.

I believe this should solve your problem.

Just to close the post

I've found the problem was permission, my credecial is Domain admin and as domain admin the SEPM was not adding an additional management server. As local administrator worked well for me. Next time I'll try run as administrator....lol ;0

Thanks
