Upgraded to RU5 last week. I assigned a 32bit package to a test group and set it to maintain existing client features but it installed the entire suite on the clients.

When I first upgraded, I noticed that they only available packages to assign in the console were the old 11.0.4202 packages. So I added the 11.0.5 packages from the SEP and SEPWin64 folders on the first CD. Could that be the problem? Or is it just a typical Symantec flaw?

There could be a possibilty that  the upgrade was not compelte sucesfuuly so the packages were not added.

    This is not a flaw

In the clients list in the SEPM, select a group and choose install pacakages.
Right click and choose add to add a package.
In the drop down list you should see: Symantec End Point Protection version 11.0.5002.233 for WIN32BIT or
Symantec End Point Protection version 11.0.5002.233 for WIN64BIT

Assigning one of these packages to the group (not from the CD) directly from the SEPM console is the best and most efficeint way in maintaining you existing settings.
There is a checkbox for "maintain existing client settings".

Works great and in MR5 (RU5), it is pretty quick to deploy and update as well.

    Hope that helps.

Jason, what I was trying to say is that the packages weren't there after upgrading so I had to manually add them to the console from the setup CD.

Guess I'll try the upgrade again.

Gotcha.  Sorry, misunderstood.  Did you check in the "Admin" section of SEPM under Servers [name of your server] it gives you the version of the manager.
    Just ensure it says 11.0.5002.233
Could be the SEPM did not upgrade properly?

Im having the same kind of issue, my packages will not deploy with the correct options.  They deploy with just antivirus now.  I check Network Threat and Truscan but it does not install anymore.  Worked fine with MR4.

Ran the upgrade again but it didn't work. Only packages available in the console are the older 11.0.4202 and the ones that I manually added. Not sure what's going on.

    Any other ideas?

So to be clear here, people are only having this problem if they choose the "maintain existing client settings" option?

    Try reconfiguring the server...

snekul: That is what was wrong with mine.

shp: I reconfigured the server twice and even ran the upgrade twice. Same issue.

When you upgrade to MR5 packages should be there
remove the package you have added MR5
try running the MR5 setup again ,
once its complete you will find the packages listed.
if thats there then upgrade your test group.
    will see if that works.

Now it won't let me delete the packages. Saying they're the latest package. You cannot delete it.

Try doing a repair, lets see if that puts the packages

Tried a repair and still having the same problem. Something is wrong with the install packages but only when they're assigned to a group for auto update.
