  • 1.  Problem Installation Symantec Endpoint Protection SBE 12 Client

    Hallo,

    ich habe Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition auf einem Server mit Windows Server 2003 und auf einigen Windows XP-Clients erfolgreich installiert.

    Jedoch funktioniert die Installation auf einem Client nicht; das Setup bricht ab mit der FehlermeldungFehlermeldung


    Die alte Symantec Antivirus-Version wurde deinstalliert, auch der Microsoft Windows Installer Cleaner lief schon durch die Festplatte. Ich habe auch alle 3rth-Party Dienste deaktiviert und mehrmals neu gestartet; jedoch ohne Erfolg.

    Hat jemand Abhilfe?

    Thanx for reply,

    i have register/unregister the Windows Installer but it had no effect. I am also rename the old installer-files und install version 4.5 with no effect.

    Then i am deleted all files in the temp-folder of the user, but ist has also no effect after restart.

    At least i´m using the Client-Push-Service from Server, but it interrupts also without detailed error-message.

    Is there no other way instead reinstall/repair windows? I am afraid to lose some installations...

    Do you think its only an windows installer problem ?

    Can you post the  SPC_INST.log?

    From start - run - %temp%\SEP_INST.log
    Search for Return Value 3 and post the 10 lines above the return value 3.

    Problem gelöst!
    Ich telefonierte mit dem Symantec Support und bekam per eMail einige Hinweise sowie einen Link zu einem speziellen Sep_Support-Tool. Mit diesem Tool kann man Protokolle erstellen lassen sowie die Registrierung scannen. Dort fand das Tool einen fehlerhaften Eintrag welchen ich fixen konnte. Und siehe da, auf einmal funktioniert die Installation!

    Problem solved!
    I have phoned the Symantec support an they mailed me some hints and a link to an special Sep_Support-Tool. This Tool creates protocols and scans the registry. One bug in the registry was found and fixed. Now the install was successfully!

    We have one 2003 Windows Server, 14 desktops XP Pro/WIN 7 Pro AND 10 notebooks XP Pro/Win 7 Pro. Will this product work for us?
