We are getting ready to migrate our existing Endpoint Protection Manager to a new server (new IP address, new DNS name).  I am following this article:  http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH104389&locale=en_US.

Following the knowledgebase article, I am installing Symantec 12.1.1 as that's what is running on the other (MACHINE_1) server.  When running through the Management Server Configuration Wizard, I get to the point where you "specify the server name and Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager administrator credentials for the management server with which you want to replicate data".

    I put in:

Replication server: (the full DNS name of my old server)

    Replication server port: 8443

    Administrator name: admin

    Password: (the password for admin)

When I click "Next", I get prompted to trust the "partner site's certificate" and I click on "Yes".

    I then get an error:

The console schema version does not match the server schema version.  Download an updated version of the console by typing the URL in your Web browser for the computer that hosts the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.  ErrorCode: 0x12300000

When I open IE9 on the server and go to the administration page of the "old" server, I'm able to login fine with the same credentials.

    Any ideas?

And they are both running the exact same version? You can confirm in help >> about

Are you positive on the build #? If you go into your old SEPM then select help -> about what is the full build number?

Need to be positive you are installing the same build or you are going to get that error.

Help, About in old server is 12.1.1101.401 RU1 MP1.

How do I determine the version of the new one if the configuration wizard hasn't successfully run yet?

Did you install on the new one yet and than run config wizard or are you doing this all at one time?

RU2 just came out yesterday otherwise RU1 MP1 would've been the latest version. It sounds like you are installing RU2?

Sorry, my reply got caught in the moderator's queue.

    Old server is running 12.1.1101.401 RU1 MP1.

I installed the new server using the 12.1_RU1_Part1 installation media.  How can I verify the version on the new server if the Management Server Configuration Wizard hasn't successfully completed yet?

Sounds like your old server is using RU1 MP1 and you are installing the new server with straight RU1.

If you unzip the 12.1_RU1_Part1 there should be a file called versions.txt, check this and I am guessing it will say 12.1.1000.

You will need to download 12.1_RU1_MP1 from fileconnect.

You're running RU1 on the new server than. You'll need to upgrade as mentioned above.

I've made progress, but I'm still not having luck.

Both servers are now running 12.1.2 (I upgraded the old server, then installed the new software on the new server, after uninstalling the old software on the new server, if that makes sense).

On the Management Server Configuration Wizard, I've walked through all the steps.  It gets to the point where it says "The database is being created and initialized.  This will take a few minutes."  After a minute or so, I get the error:

Unable to connect to the server specified.

At the previous step, when I choose the replication server and enter in the connection information for the old server, everything was fine (other than the "do you trust this certificate" message).  Any ideas?
